Maki Park, LMHCA
Psychotherapist
Seeking the support you need and deserve is one of the most important steps in your journey to heal and make the changes you desire in your life: I am so glad you’re here. I strive to create a safe space where clients can be fully seen, witnessed, and validated in the full complexity of their story and identity. Through our therapeutic relationship, you will have the opportunity to encounter parts of yourself that you may feel disconnected from with gentleness, compassion, and curiosity.
In our work together, I aim to empower you to step into the driver’s seat in identifying and reaching your own goals. My work draws from attachment, narrative, and feminist approaches, and I am committed to the belief that you already have within you the knowledge and strength you need to move towards a greater sense of freedom in your life. I have lived experience wrestling with the competing scripts, voices, and societal demands and assumptions placed on me as a result of the multiple identities I hold as a child of immigrants, a mother, and a woman of color, among others. We can at times lose sight of what we want for ourselves in the midst of external pressures, and my hope is that together, we can help you find clarity.
I began my work in therapy in community mental health, where I worked primarily with immigrant and refugee children, families, and adults. My practice currently focuses on individual adults and teens, ages 14+. I remain passionate about providing access to mental health care for all, and reserve a few pro-bono slots for clients who are un- or under-insured. I also continue to work part-time as a consultant in my previous career path as a researcher and policy analyst focused on issues affecting immigrant families. This work informs my anti-oppressive and systems-oriented lens with clients.
Ultimately, only you know best what you need, and I welcome you to schedule a free consultation to see if you feel we may be a good fit.
