Peter Yeung
Counseling Resident
We are formed, hurt, and healed in relationship. This occurs in our earliest relationships with our family and caregivers, the people we interact with, and the systems we are part of. The relationship in therapy is a way to connect, encounter, and heal. My role is not to be an expert in the relationship but an understanding companion on the journey. I aim to create a safe-enough space that we can explore together our deepest humanity in order to live a more free and integrated life. My hope is to help you live more authentically so that you might connect deeper with yourself, others, and the world that we live in.
As a therapist, I borrow from many theoretical modalities: existential, attachment theories, psychodynamic, and person-centered. All of these may sound big, but they simply mean that I like to focus on who you are, who you have been, who you are becoming, and the relationships that have impacted you. I am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology, with a Concentration in British Object Relations from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology. I also hold a Master of Arts in Higher Education.
As a person, I’m oriented by my passion for connection. I reside and work on Duwamish land and identify as cis-gender, neuro-typical, able-bodied, and Chinese-american. I’m a child of immigrants, but grew up in Colorado the traditional land of the Cheyenne, Ute, and Arapaho people. I believe the greatest expertise I can offer is a shared humanity. I have a fondness for play, humor, and being active. I also have a current obsession with pickleball.
