Psychotherapist

(she/her)

Children Ages Birth to Ten:

The language of children is play! Children generally cannot use words to describe their troubles in a useful way. Instead, they might hit, melt down, cry, or withdraw, for example. All behavior is a message, a clue to what the child needs, and I love the ‘treasure hunt’ of finding the message in the behavior. Through the power of play, the inexpressible finds expression, and the child finds relief in being seen, heard, felt, and understood within the therapeutic relationship.

Adults:

We exist as ecosystems rich with specificity, including the people, places, social identities, experiences, and beliefs which have shaped how we move through the world and our relationship with suffering, pain, and desire. As a relational, psychodynamic psychotherapist, I am interested in the whole of you—the parts you find acceptable or tolerable and the parts of you that remain exiled in the shadows. Together we will create space to play with your feelings and get to know your patterns of relating—both to self and others—and to nurture a sense of spaciousness, freedom, and meaning in your life.

I hold a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology & Psychology and a Certificate in Play Therapy from Antioch University, Seattle. My professional background includes over a decade of teaching elementary children in public and private school settings as well as training in restorative justice and critical social theory. The professional qualification I hold most dear is my personal ongoing psychotherapeutic work.
