Michelle Garrison, LMHCA
Psychotherapist
(She/Her)
I believe that every human is unique and fundamentally good, complex, messy, and beautiful, and has the potential to harm and heal; we are all worthy of love, respect, repair, and living a life that is blessed for who they/we are.I strive to understand my clients holistically, and create a relationship that is built on safety, trust, collaboration, and hope. I believe that therapy is a journey of discovery and that we are experts in the discovery of our own stories. Together we will pay close attention to the client’s relationships of their past, how those relationships shaped them, and how those patterns are playing out in the present. I believe that therapy is a journey of discovery, an unfolding of the multiplicities of who we are in our relationship with ourselves and others.
As a human I enjoy nature, running, a good cup of coffee and book, and time with my partner and dog.
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate (LMHCA) in the state of Washington. I received a Masters of Counseling Psychology from The Seattle School of Theology and Psychology and a Bachelor of Science in Communications and minors in Park and Recreation Administration and Religious Studies from Missouri State University.
I completed the clinician practicum aspect of my training at a mental health community organization where I worked with young adults and adults dealing with chronic pain, trauma, relational and multicultural concerns, and anxiety and depression. I continued work for a group practice where I supported young adults in the LGBTQ community, folks exploring identity and working through faith deconstruction, those with anxiety and depression, and folks learning the unique language of emotions and story.
I am a relational psychodynamic psychotherapist. My approach is influenced by
Dr. Hillary McBride, mindfulness, emotionally focused, and trauma theories. In session, I utilize humanistic, person-centered, and feminist theological practices.
I work with young adults and adults who are part of the LGBTQ+ community, those processing and navigating their identities, deconstructed their faith, in seasons of change, struggling with anxiety, depression, and relational issues.
