Psychotherapist

(he/him)

As a clinician, I offer you the space to bring your whole experience. Everyone has experiences that are in some way “too much”. Often we try to push those experiences far away, as a means of self-protection. This causes us to feel anxious, numb, stuck, alone... If we never tend to those experiences, we end up bound to them in ways that keep us from a life of flourishing. Together, with kindness, we’ll work with and through your experiences. Rather than merely intellectually knowing our past, we need to viscerally re-experience it, so as to free ourselves from its hold. Our pain weakens and the stuckness dissolves once the traumas that caused them are finally known. And, even more importantly, felt. This is the daunting & life-giving work of therapy. Work that I am honored to engage with you. Together we’ll get close to your experience and ultimately allow you to move forward with a greater capacity to engage life.

My work is focused on making lasting change by engaging our roots and is informed by object relations theory. I bring to my work a commitment to curiosity and a willingness to go to the places where others have left. I also honor your complexity, offering you space to be and explore without judgment. You don’t need to make sense in order to heal - embrace the living paradox of You.

I completed my Masters in Counseling Psychology from the Seattle School of Theology & Psychology, where I learned the importance of engaging one’s own personal work in being able to give good care as a therapist. I received my Bachelor of Arts in German from the University of Oklahoma, und kann immer noch ein bisschen Deutsch verstehen. I am active in my professional development, including consultation and ongoing training. When I’m not at play as a therapist, you can find me with my nose in a book, exploring the mountains, earning my DIY degree from YouTube University, or in the kitchen. I keep a slab of steel in my oven to be able to fire a pizza at the drop of a hat.

I work with adult individuals and couples in Washington State. I believe that good therapy is about relationship - research shows that the quality of the therapist-client relationship has a huge impact on therapeutic outcomes. To see if we might be a good fit for working together, please reach out for a consultation. I’d love to hear more about you.
